A Memoir of Work,
Burnout, and the
Long Way Home
Success can look convincing from the outside. Titles. Promotions. Achievements. Responsibility. But behind many careers sits a different story. One of pressure, self-doubt, sacrifice, resilience and the search for meaning.
Leadership Without Armour is an honest memoir about work, identity, burnout, recovery and the lifelong challenge of leading without losing yourself.
“Leadership is not about appearing invulnerable. It is about having the courage to be human.”
A Career. A Breakdown. A Reinvention.
From the smell of oil in a cold switchroom to the confidence of the boardroom, Kevin Eastwood’s story is one of resilience, reinvention, and purposeful leadership. Beginning his career as an apprentice engineer and rising to senior executive and board-level positions, he has spent more than four decades helping organisations navigate change, embrace innovation, and unlock the potential of their people. Along the way, he has experienced both the rewards of success and the challenges of burnout, lessons that have shaped a leadership philosophy grounded in authenticity, humility, and service.
Today, Kevin is a trusted adviser, consultant, mentor, speaker, trustee, and author. Through Eastwood Consultancy, he helps organisations strengthen leadership, governance, and resilience in an increasingly complex world. Drawing on a lifetime of experience across engineering, technology, business transformation, and board-level governance, he combines strategic insight with genuine human understanding. His mission is simple: to help people and organisations lead with confidence, adapt with purpose, and create a lasting positive impact.
